In Nutshell
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) is a federal law that provides you and your dependents the opportunity to continue your insurance coverage after you leave Collective Health.
How it Works
When you choose to continue your coverage with COBRA, you will be responsible for your premium payments.
Peak One is our COBRA administrator, you will receive your COBRA packet as well as instructions on how to enroll for COBRA coverage with Peak One. After you’ve made your coverage selections, you will send your monthly premium payments to Peak One. It’s up to you to pay your premiums on time–there will be no reminders.
Worth Knowing
There may be other, more affordable coverage options for you and your dependents–for example, through the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid, or other group health plans (e.g. your spouse’s plan). These options offer what’s called a "special enrollment period" and might cost less than COBRA. Be sure to compare all your coverage options, including deductibles and what you will pay out of pocket, to decide which option is best for you.
