Maternity Health Coverage

Preparing for and recovering from the arrival of a new child in a family can be a wonderful, and stressful time! As such, we offer eligible pregnant employees up to 10 weeks of Pregnancy Leave as per the following schedule to help you prepare for and prioritize your health and well-being after delivery:

  • 1 week of pre-birth leave (pre-FMLA and Short Term Disability)

  • Up to 8 weeks of leave during the Short Term Disability period (duration varies depending on the type of delivery: 6 weeks for vaginal delivery, or 8 weeks for caesarian delivery)

  • 1 week of post-delivery recovery period immediately following the Short Term Disability period

Baby-Bonding Leave

We offer up to six weeks of paid Baby-Bonding Leave to allow you to focus on nurturing your family, spending time with loved ones, and optimizing your health and well-being. You can use your Baby-Bonding Leave at any time within 12 months after the birth or placement of the new child. If you are a birthing parent, you may also be eligible for six weeks of paid Personal Medical Leave to provide time off for pregnancy and childbirth-related medical needs, in addition to Baby-Bonding Leave. Per the City & County of San Francisco Paid Parental Leave Ordinance, employees in the San Francisco office are offered up to 8 weeks of Baby-Bonding Leave for new parental claims beginning on or after July 1, 2020.


Having a child can drastically shift your daily lifestyle, and it's not always easy to transition to the schedule you had before. We're attuned to the many physical and emotional demands of new parenthood and want to support you as best we can in returning to work. Our Baby-Bonding Return to Work Program allows new parents to return to work following a continuous Baby-Bonding Leave at a minimum of 24 hours (3 days) a week, at a pro-rated salary. Planning Your Leave

  • Have an initial conversation with your manager about your need for Baby-Bonding Leave as soon as you are comfortable so they can start to prepare for your absence.

  • Contact our leave administrator, The Larkin Company here or by calling (866) 923-3336​.

  • Work with your manager and team to figure out a coverage plan.

  • When you’re back, check in with your People Ops Business Partner to make sure your transition back to work is smooth!
